Italy

The Belpaese (Beautiful Country) is one of the single greatest repositories of sensorial pleasures on earth. From art to food, from stunning and varied countryside to flamboyant fashion, Italy has it all. This is the country that brought us Slow Food, devoted to the promotion of fresh products and fine traditional, cooking. With 44 sites, Italy has more Unesco World Heritage sites than any other country on earth.

I can’t begin to describe the experience I’ve just had! It has been the most wonderful, amazing & most exhilarating time in my life. Before Italy, I didn’t have the confidence, style or open-mindedness that I have now. I’ve made friends that I’ll keep forever. I had a fantastic time at school. Everybody was really welcoming towards me & very helpful. It was a wonderful way to make friends.

Leah Beky – Year to Italy

My whole experience so far has been absolutely amazing! 10 out of 10. I could not have been more fortunate. The people I'm surrounded by at school, my friends, my host family and just in general the people of Turin are very inviting and warming…As mentioned earlier my host family are amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better family to be placed with - they are very gentle, sympathetic, kind and more to me. Luckily the whole family speak english so I feel included when I don't understand what has been said in Italian and they explain to me in English. My host parents are doctors and so they have a very busy schedule however that does not affect our time together what so ever - they love the mountains so most weekends we go there. Laura and Stefano are my little sister and brother and it's great because they help me a lot with the language.

Important Program Information

Please note that

  • Students applying for Italy will need to have a basic knowledge of Italian to allow easy adaption to school and Host family life.

  • Whilst it is not a mandatory requirement, Italy strongly recommends that all students applying for a long program should have a minimum of 2 years Italian language experience or have completed a basic Italian language course before departure.  For short programs, Italy recommends that applicants complete a basic language course before departure, with the option to complete a 2 week Italian language course upon arrival in Milan at an additional cost.

2WayExchange Program

The 2WayExchange Experience involves you in a unique exchange program where students from Australia and New Zealand are ‘matched’, with a student in either France, Canada, Italy or Spain. You choose which country and spend 3 months with each other’s families and attend school. It amounts to twice the experience and at a fraction of the usual cost of a 3 month exchange program. Click here to find out more.
