Ranked in the top seven school districts in Florida for reading, math and science, Brevard students are prepared for success. At Heritage High School students have a variety of programs including advanced mathematics and science, dual enrolment, Environmental Studies Academy, Sports Medicine and more.

Facilities

Heritage High School is located in the southern part of Brevard County on a 65-acre campus. Recently completed in 2009, Heritage High has up to date facilities that incorporate some of the latest technologies in the classroom.

Sports and Arts

Heritage High competes in a number of sports such as bowling and swimming. In 2016, the track team had five athletes participate in Florida’s State Track championships. With a comprehensive arts program, international students can choose to pursue their interests. Classes and activities include photography, dance, pottery and more.

Awards and Accomplishments

The choir at Heritage distinguished themselves as a Disney Honour Choir in 2015. Heritage was also ranked bronze by US News and World Report.

Just one hour southeast of Orlando, international students can explore Brevard County and visit the Kennedy Space Centre, Port Canaveral - the second-busiest cruise port in the world, 72 miles of beautiful Atlantic Ocean beaches, and the largest collection of endangered wildlife and plants in the continental United States.

District Profile

The Marion County School District provides students an interesting mix of challenging academics and fine arts instruction. With the prestigious Biomedical Science Program, over 15 Advanced Placement classes and lots of extracurricular activities, every student can find the courses that meet their individual needs and desires.

Facilities

The facilities at both West Port and Forest High Schools include state-of-the-art classrooms, performing arts centres, gymnasiums, sports facilities, libraries and science labs. SPORTS AND ARTS Athletics are an integral part a student’s total education, so students are encouraged to participate in activities from weightlifting to flag football. Marion County Centre for the Arts is a visual and performing fine arts magnet program that are welcome international students audition for. At Forest High School, the Marching Wildcats (band program) has received many superior ratings over the years.

Awards and Accomplishments

Schools in the District have been awarded America’s Best High Schools from US News and World Report and America’s Most Rigorous High Schools by the Washington Post. They were also named a semi-finalist in Grammy in the Schools five years in a row and designated an Educational Model school by the International Centre for Leadership.

Community Information

Ocala with a population of 57,500, is located halfway between Gainesville and Orlando. Less than a two hour drive from both the Gulf of Mexico and the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, Ocala is also bordered by a national forest. The warm temperatures year-round allow residents to enjoy outdoor and water recreational activities—summer and winter.
