Student Exchange Australia New Zealand Focus Groups

Student Exchange Australia New Zealand is inviting members of our community – inbound and outbound students, parents and guardians, host families, staff, volunteers and schools – to contribute to the development and review of our policies and practices. Register here to be part of our next online Focus Group during which we’ll listen to your feedback and suggestions about our materials and activities. We’ll take on board your comments and, if we’re able to, will weave improvements into how we operate and how we communicate.

What do we mean by ‘if we’re able to’? Being a registered provider of student exchange programs in each state/territory of Australia and in New Zealand, comes with many regulations and standards with which we must comply. These regulations and standards, along with domestic and international law, sometimes mean that we can’t change the way we’re doing things and remain compliant. But, if we can improve our approach or clarify our language, we’d like to do so.

Each online Focus Group will be facilitated by a senior member of staff and will follow this format:

• Welcome to Country
• Introduction by facilitator and housekeeping
• Child Safety statement/Privacy and confidentiality considerations
• Acknowledgement/brief introductions of those present
• What policies and procedures we’ve been reviewing. Your opinion?
• What’s on your mind about our materials?
• Wrap up and summary of follow-up action to be taken.
